So Let Me Get This Straight…
There’s this unwritten rule that women are supposed to move through the world “gracefully.”
Whatever the hell that means.
Be sexy, but not too sexy.
Be confident, but not too loud.
Date, but not too much.
Have standards, but don’t be difficult.
Enjoy sex, but God forbid you enjoy it the same way men are allowed to.
Because apparently a man can meet a woman, go home with her, never speak to her again, and somehow that experience gets added to his value.
But if a woman does the exact same thing?
Now she’s lost value.
How?
No, seriously.
How the hell does that work?
Two grown people meet.
Two grown people are attracted to each other.
Two grown people decide to have sex.
Two grown people go home.
Why does one person leave with more social value and the other allegedly leave with less?
Make that make sense.
Because for years, women have been taught to treat sex like a resource we are “giving away,” while men are taught to treat the same act like an accomplishment they are collecting.
That alone tells you the standard was never really about morality.
It was about control.
A woman who enjoys sex on her own terms makes some people uncomfortable because she is not waiting to be chosen.
She chose too.
And I think that is the part people don’t like.
Because if a woman can desire somebody, enjoy herself, and move on without needing love, commitment, validation, or even a second date, then suddenly she is behaving with the same freedom men have been praised for having forever.
And apparently freedom looks different when a woman is holding it.
Now don’t get me wrong.
Everybody should move in a way that feels safe, healthy, and aligned with who they are.
But that applies to men too.
What I’m not doing is pretending a woman’s worth lives between her legs while a man’s reputation somehow gets stronger every time he uses his.
That math is stupid.
If casual sex is morally wrong, then it is wrong for both people.
If casual sex is simply a choice between consenting adults, then it is a choice for both people.
But we cannot keep pretending the same behavior is “experience” for him and “damage” for her.
Pick a rule.
Because this double standard is tired.
